There was terrific interest in the Macmillan fundraising stalls on 8 October and I'm very glad to report that an amazing £1315.35 was raised! This is a record breaking result towards a very worthy cause.
A very big thanks to all the people who gave the time and energy putting it on and all the support given by members providing various goods for sale or by working on the stands selling the items or by providing all the refreshments and doing the cooking. A special thanks also to all the members and guests who turned up and gave gererously.
A job well done and it is very much appreciated.
The working party season has started with a fantastic turnout of over forty people including a great number of cadets who proved that they have plenty of energy and we very keen to get involved with everything we were doing. the main aim was to attack all the brambles and weeds around the club and the massive pile of cuttings that we have down by the lake indicates the vast amount that was done. As alway we enjoyed a loverly lunch that then energised everyone for more work in the afternoon.
So a big thank you to Julie Nelson for organising us all so well and to everyone that helped in what was not just a lot of great working day but also a great social event in that we all get to chat with members that we may not see often and get to know each other better.
So if you have soem spare time please do come and join us on the next working part on Sunday 29th October. See you there.
The funeral will be held at 12.30pm on Friday October 6th at All Saints Church in Maldon followed by a burial at Maldon Cemetery at 1.30pm. Afterwards there will be a wake which is expected to be held at the Blue Boar, Maldon.
The details of Charlie's funeral are now available and it will take place at the Three Countie's Crematorium, Halstead Road, Braintree CM7 5PB on Monday 2 October at 12.00hrs followed by a wake at the Blackwater Sailing Club.
Over the weekend of 23-24th September eleven BSC Cadet sailors attended the RYA East Zone Championship at the Royal Harwich Yacht Club. Five collected medals for their performances in the Optimist and Topper classes. The club also won the prize for sending the largest number of sailors from a single club to the event.
Many congratulations to all those who took part, you are great ambassadors for the club and continue to provide evidence of the club's growing strength and reputation at the junior level.
